Screw Being Perfect!
On a daily basis, I have chats with other women entrepreneurs about how difficult it seems to be just to post, especially on platforms with video. We constantly compare ourselves to other people and question our qualifications to even post in the first place.
We’re worried that we don’t measure up to the seemingly perfect women online.
We are worried that if we’re vulnerable and authentic, then we open ourselves up to judgment. We show that side that has been hurt before, and we are scared. I understand. I feel that too. I flashback to middle school, to those toxic jobs. I hide my voice because I was called a “bitch” before, I hide my face because I was called “ugly,” I let those words define my actions today,
and THAT’S NOT FAIR!
We HAVE to break this cycle.
Doesn’t matter if you don’t have botox or if you do love wearing your full contour set, if you have wrinkles or if you sunburn easily. It doesn’t matter if you don’t say things perfectly.
If we don’t start speaking up, we cannot change the status quo.
We HAVE to break this cycle for our daughters, granddaughters, our families, and our friends. If women gave themselves more grace, then we would be able to show others more grace as well. Stand up and help others with their voices, be a cheerleader, share small wins, and boost other women, even when there’s an easy option to tear them down.
When faced with judgment, know that the judgment isn’t about you! Others will hold onto their judgments until they tackle that same insecurities in themselves.
SO TO GET STARTED:
Post something today. Post that you’re done pretending that you’re perfect. Post about your business. Post about your hobbies. Post about a neat blog post you’ve read recently (lol).
Reclaim your own power and your own voice. Know that what you say may not be perfect, but it is you.
